Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act is not just a regulatory issue at Roostify it’s a passion. Our compliance director, Doreen Ghusar was just awarded one a top honor for being passionate about ADA compliance and ensuring Roostify and our partners are offering the best experience for everyone.

Roostify’s Senior Director of Regulatory Compliance, Doreen Ghusar, just received one of the housing industry’s highest honors: the 2020 HousingWire Women of Influence award. We wanted to provide more background on what makes Doreen such an asset to Roostify and the housing finance industry.

One of Doreen’s primary responsibilities is ensuring all of Roostify’s offerings are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). And it’s a task she is deeply passionate about. Ghusar makes certain that Roostify provides people with speech ability issues, visual impairments, or difficulty typing or hearing equal access to the digital mortgage lending platform. She has advocated for Roostify and our partners to adopt solutions to enhance accessibility and deliver third-party audits to confirm compliance.

“This is truly an honor to win the Women of Influence designation,” Ghusar said. “I am humbled to be counted among the best and the brightest female professionals across the entire mortgage and housing finance industries. I will use this award as proof that customers must always get full and complete access to their digital tools and services.”

However, ADA compliance isn’t the only reason HousingWire chose Ghusar. She also recently guided the internal team on a groundbreaking artificial intelligence project. Ensuring that the compliance and legal team has a process to approve data instances that can be used for Artificial Information, Machine Learning, and or Robotic Process Automation. By doing so Roostify products will help prevent ‘Digital Redlining’ as data and support ‘Fair Lending’ and other regulatory issues.

Ghusar chairs the Roostify Women’s Network, which offers leadership within the organization to empower the company’s female employees. Ghusar also sits on the Mortgage Bankers Association’s residential technology forum, which provides clarity to lenders of all sizes on the services tech companies can provide.

“Doreen's belief in the value of accessibility to consumers and our clients drives her to lead others to ensure that Roostify's services meet the highest standards of compliance and accessibility,” said Eric Drattell, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Roostify.

“We are deeply proud of the work Doreen does for us,” said Rajesh Bhat, CEO and Co-Founder of Roostify. “For her to win the 2020 Women of Influence award from HousingWire is an accomplishment that helps promote an area of expertise that all too often goes under-recognized. We appreciate the efforts of Doreen and her team to keep our operations compliant with all the rules and regulations in the mortgage industry.”

The Women of influence Award is the second honor for Ghusar in the last twelve months. In September 2019, Ghusar picked up a HousingWire Insiders Award, which recognizes the “unsung heroes” propelling their companies to success.
